Does the customer need to download an application for file sharing?
No. Both uploading and downloading work completely in the browser; the customer doesn't download an application or install a plugin. Selecting the file via the paperclip icon from the chat in the conversation screen is sufficient.
Which file types can I send and up to what size?
You can send types such as images, PDFs, and documents; there are no file type restrictions. The size is limited by the server's upload limit (PHP upload_max_filesize / post_max_size). File sharing is open according to your plan.
Are files transferred securely?
Yes. The file is uploaded to a session-specific secure path and the download link is only shared with the other party of the conversation. All traffic passes through HTTPS/encrypted connections.
